In what was the most horrendous conditions to play football in rain, hail and gail force winds. Newtowne performed remarkably well neat football attacking with pace and everyone looking very confident on the ball.
Playing against a gail in the first half Newtowne restricted BBOB to hitting 60 yard efforts a credit to all the players. A few chances went a miss with Newtowne dominating the game but it didn ' t dishearten them if anything it made them more determined to get a result Ferris probably had the best effort when his thunderous shot rebounded off the cross bar. New signing Stuart Bratton was linking play well and settled in brilliantly. Due to sustained pressure Newtowne took a short corner resulting in Johnstone cutting inside the 18 yard box and lashed in the opener. Again Newtowne drove forward Harkin, Logue, Johnstone and Mc Sparron driving hard and creating chances for the front two. It wasn ' t long before goal number 2 arrived Ferris picked up the ball just inside the BB half and his superb pass released Bratton who made no mistake with a well taken finish. Even though Newtowne continued to dominate 2-0 was the score at half time.
With a ever increasing wind and hail it was total one way traffic in the second half. BBOB could hardly get out of their 18 yard box never mind their own half with a mixture of excellent football and determination the goals came thick and fast. Johnstone fed Harkin a great ball on the half way line and he ran the full length to calmly slot home goal number 3. Then the excellent Ferris made it 4 with a tidy finish of his own. Goals number 5 and 6 wasn ' t long in coming a fine solo effort and a great header completed Ferris ' s hat trick. Nearing the end the impressive Ryan Logue made it 7. A lot of very good displays today in very trying conditions a much improved Newtowne display. The back 5 of Callaghan, O ' Reilly, O ' Brien, O ' Hara and Morrison were in total control throughout. The midfield a driving force for 90 minutes and Ferris and Bratton striking up a partnership from the start. Woods and Ryan Logue looked very sharp when they came on which was great to see. Neil Mullan came on after having an injury meaning Newtowne have a full squad available for the incoming months. Everyone knows this is a very important time of the season and a big effort is being give by all
