Payment Of Players Can I take this opportunity to answer the allegation that Newtowne are paying players. I, like the committee, find this rumour/lie offensive. If junior clubs wish to pay players that is their prerogative but Newtowne feel that it is completely against the ethos of our club and feel ultimately it would destroy the club. Our 3 Derry players are at the centre of this. Calvin is a long time mate of Burny's and turned down the chance of a weekly wage with another club because they didn't train. Stevie is a mate of Marty's and joined basically so Marty would shut up and leave him alone to do his work. Mickey came with the other 2 boys. All 3 are collected by our managers and taken to and from training (they don't drive). Actually our managers are out of pocket for petrol but neither would take any petrol money. I know this won't quell the speculation but I want to go on record to say NO player ever has or ever will receive payment at Newtowne FC. I have no problems with other clubs doing this as what they do is none of my business. I know writing this is probably the wrong thing but saying nothing only fuels this nonsense.
The Irish Junior Newtowne have received a bye into round 3 of the Irish Junior Cup.

Newtowne now face BBOB in the Sentinel Cup final. Venue and date to be arranged. This is a huge achievement and a fitting reflection of the huge effort and dedication shown by both men. Amidst the excitement of these successes the ability and guidance of the managers can sometimes be forgotten. Irish Junior Cup Newtowne travel to Belfast to face Newington11 in the first round of the Irish Junior Cup to be played on September 15th.

W&R Holdings , who own The Corner Bar, have handed Newtowne F.C. a hefty sponsorship cheque for 2007/2008.The money will be used for new adidas t shirts. Orders to be taken soon.Pitch Problems It looks like there is going to be a lot of trouble booking pitches in Limavady next year. There is only 1 pitch at Scroggy Rd this year and with the Wyse's probably out all winter that means everyone will be chasing one pitch.
