In the last 20 minutes BBOB managers Don
Alford and Drew Thompson opted for experience. The arrival
of Seamus Morris and Mark Blair certainly gave a bit of life
to the BBOB side. The two subs combined in the 74th minute
to set up Blair for a shot on goal. The shot landed safely
in Simpson’s arms.
BBOB came into the game more in the last
quarter but didn’t really throw the kitchen sink at
Lincoln Courts. In the 79th minute Bryson’s free kick
rebounded in the box but landed at the foot of a Lincoln Courts
player. With time running out controversy struck in the last
three minutes.
A great run from the lively Richard Lynch
left him inside the Courts’ penalty box, as he headed
for goal he was tripped inside the box. The BBOB players felt
it was a penalty kick but it was not given.
I enjoyed the game, I was impressed with
the sporting attitude of both teams and by the willingness
of both to play open football. For Leeds supporter Wayne Glenn,
this may be the only silverware he sees for a while!!
Both teams had talented players on view but
the Lincoln Courts players performed better as a team and
that was the difference on the night
